NDIOPC don’t have the mandate to speak for Abiteye, Olero and Dibi Fields – Okowa’s Aide, Odeli retorts
Prince David Odeli

The newly appointed Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Youth and Community Development as well as Chairman of Tisun Community Management Council in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince David Odeli, has countered a publication made on this medium today by the Niger Delta Itsekiri Oil Producing Communities, NDIOPC, saying, the group does not have the mandate to speak on behalf of the host communities, as it affects Chevron’s operations in Abiteye, Olero and Dibi Fields.

A visibly enraged Prince Odeli, who dashed to Fresh Angle International Office in Warri, Delta State this evening, Friday March 18, to respond to the threat by members of NDIOPC, averred: “They don't have the mandate to speak for the three fields, as such, cannot issue any ultimatum to the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL as it concerns the company's operations”.

The Governor’s Aide added: “Leaders of the various communities that make up the fields, are in deep conversation as a result of the unwarranted threat issued by the so called members of NDIOPC in the aforesaid publication. We have intelligence already that the threat, was sponsored by one individual from Dibi Field, who has a personal business interest.

“The Federal Government and the security agencies, should take note, in the event of any breakdown of law and order in Abiteye, Olero and Dibi Fields”.

Recall that the Niger Delta Itsekiri Oil Producing Communities, NDIOPC, had in a press statement made available to Fresh Angle International earlier today, said they were ready to shutdown Chevron’s operations in Abiteye, Olero and Dibi Fields, over non-implementation of their demands.
