Today, Saturday April 2, was a sad day for motorcycle riders in Jeddo, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State as a 10 - tyre Mack Truck rammed into one of the motorcycle riders along the narrow Jeddo road, inflicting severe injury on the victim's leg and completely damaging the motorcycle.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that the fatal accident which occurred at the BEDC substation in Jeddo, also affected the BEDC 11 KVA power distribution network line.
Men of the Nigeria Air Force and Nigeria Police Counter Terrorism Unit Base 5, whose formations are within the coverage area, rescued the motorcycle rider (an Hausa man) who was trapped under the mack truck and immediately rushed him to the 371 NAF detachment Hospital for medical attention.
As at the time of this report, the Mack Truck involved in the accident with registration number Lagos FST 126 XL was at the accident spot, while efforts were ongoing to arrest driver of the Mack Truck, who reportedly disappeared from the scene immediately the accident occurred.
Investigation by This Newspaper, indicated that the Mack Truck suffered brake failure, leading to the fatal accident.
