As the rainy season sets in, authorities of Warri South Local Government Council today commenced a 3-day clearing of the canal connecting Igbudu Market to the Spare Parts Market at Lower Erejuwa road, Warri, with a resolve to ensure that all forms of blockade in the canal and drains around the market are evacuated.

Addressing newsmen while supervising the evacuation, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema described the state of the canal as an eyesore and assured that the evacuation which is the council’s way of rewarding traders of the market for paying their stall rent will be done to a logical conclusion.

The Warri South Council boss promised that his administration will make a formal report to the State Government on the bad portion of the entry point of the Igbudu Market from Warri Sapele road with a view to fixing it and easing traffic around the market premises.

According to Hon. Edema, as soon as the evacuation of the refuse in the canal is completed, a pictorial report will be sent to the state Ministry of Environment for possible concrete construction by the side of the canal.
