Mrs. Okuebor, praised Shola Mese Foundation for its humanitarian efforts and partnership with NDLEA, calling on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate Shola Mese Foundation.

The Founder of Shola Mese Foundation, Deacon Shola Mese, in his response, stated that the partnership was borne out of the passion he has to help drug users and abusers, saying he sees NDLEA as a humanitarian agency like his foundation, but with a different goal.

While explaining that the NDLEA deploys apprehension and persecution approach in its operation, so as to stop the supply and demand of drugs, Mese noted that his foundation helps the drug users to stop drug use and ensure that they do not return to it again, by rehabilitating and counselling them.

He acknowledged that his foundation was limited as it cannot give treatment to drug users and called for the building of more rehabilitation centers, that offer the humanitarian service of giving treatment to drug users.

Mese, canvassed for sustained partnership between the NDLEA Delta Ports Command and his foundation, noting that he was able to single-handedly renovate their office in Warri some years back.

He urged government to ensure better welfare package for NDLEA workers, to prevent them from compromising and falling into the temptation of being corrupt.

Highlights of the working visit, were the presentation of NDLEA Delta Ports Command’s magazine to Shola Mese and sensitization of trainees of the foundation on facts about drugs.
