Police debunks trending video of kidnap of seven buses conveying over 500 passengers

The Kogi State Police Command, has debunked a trending video on social media, insinuating that seven buses conveying over 500 passengers, were kidnapped and taken to the forest along Abuja Lokoja Road by gunmen of Fulani extraction.

The Kogi Police Public Relations Officers, SP William Ovye Aya in a statement sent to journalists this evening, Friday June 10, described the trending video as false, malicious and highly mischievous.

Aya noted that, the incident as alleged did not happen in Kogi State and such was not reported anywhere in the State.

The Police Spokesman said: "The attention of the Kogi State Police Command, has been drawn to the video which implied that over 500 buses and passengers parked along Abuja - Lokoja Road, were kidnapped by Fulani gunmen."

"The Command wish to state unequivocally that, the statement is not only the figment of the imagination of the author, but totally false.

"The author ought to have mentioned the specific location where the purported incident happened, rather than being vague. More so, no indication of when the said incident occurred. Situation reports have been received from Area Commanders, DPOs, Tactical Commanders, other security agencies, no such incident recorded in the State".

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that PPRO admonished members of the public and Citizens of Kogi State to discountenance such mischievous information trending on social media and go about their lawful businesses and activities.
