Nigerian Student Launches #100Shades Health Dance Program Across China

Damarea Ogbuewu, 16, has launched China's '#100SHADES' health program that is set to be a used platform in the upcoming school year across China as an entertainment program for children. The health program is a nod to end childhood obesity.

The program is to include dance, and meditation sessions for students in China via Youku. After China's childhood obesity rate increased within the past two years, Ogbuewu launched the program.

Where students are able to use the program during classroom breaks, and recess, the program will feature dance-alongs to songs like K-pop hits, 'Dynamite' and 'Butter' by BTS and 'How You Like That' by Blackpink. The dance-alongs, similar to the videos on dance platforms, 'Just Dance', and health program 'Go Noodle' will get children moving while allowing them to move up in difficulty levels based on grade and age.

Though the upcoming school year for China doesn't begin until August and September, many children and teachers are awaiting the school year to incorperate the new platform into the learning curricular. Ogbuewu who's a senior in high school, says that she hopes, the platform makes a difference in the learning strategies as 100SHADES is also to teach students how to appreciate their fellow classmates of different ethnicities and cultures. With that as a main goal with the program launch, it's also to teach young students how to count and read small words.
