Legislative Arm petitions DPO over alleged intimidation by Warri South - West Chairman, Tuoyo
Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo

The Legislative Arm of Warri South - West Local Government Council in Delta State, has petitioned the Divisional Police Officer of the Nigerian Police, Ogbe - Ijoh, Warri South - West, alleging intimidation of its members by the Chairman of Warri South - West Local Government Area, Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo.

In the petition dated July 21, 2022 and made available to Fresh Angle International yesterday evening, Friday July 22, " the new leadership of the Legislative Arm," attached a letter signed by Clerk of the House, Maureen O. Oweh and addressed to: " The Executive Chairman, Warri South West Local Government, Ogbe - Ijoh", informing him of the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Emiko Odin - Etuwewe and election of Rt. Hon. Raymond Pira as the new Leader, " in its plenary of Monday the 18th July, 2022."

Impeachment notice, addressed to the Chairman of Warri South - West

The House leadership in the petition, copying other relevant security agencies, requested for security cover for its plenary slated for Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Council's Legislative Arm.

Rt. Hon. Pira in a one - on - one chat with This Newspaper yesterday, dismissed insinuations that his emergence as Leader of Warri South - West Legislative Arm, would create imbalance in the power sharing arrangement among the two Itsekiri blocks in the local government area, saying three members of the House from the Benin River axis, signed the impeachment notice and partook actively in the plenary where Rt. Hon. Etuwewe, was impeached.

Rt. Hon. Etuwewe, is from the Benin River block of Warri South - West Local Government Area, while Rt. Hon. Raymond Pira, is from the Ugborodo block.

Names and signatures of the 15 councillors that purportedly signed the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Etuwewe

A copy of the petition addressed to the DPO Ogbe - Ijoh, is here stated inter - alia:

"The Divisional Police Officer, The Nigerian Police,

Ogbe-joh,

Warri South West

Sir,

PERCEIVED INTIMIDATION OF MEMBERS BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF WARRI SOUTH-WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL (HON TAIYE DUKE TUOYO) AFTER THE IMPEACHMENT OF HON. EMIKO ODIN-ETUWEWE (FORMER LEADER OF HOUSE)

On the 18" of July 2022 at the plenary of Warn South-West Legislative Arm, the leader Hon. Emiko Odin-Etuwewe was duly impeached by over two -third (2/3) required number for impeachment as stipulated in the Nigerian Constitution.

After the peaceful process of impeachment and election of a new leader (Hon. Raymond Amorighoye Pira), the Executive Chairman sent a team of policemen to the Chamber alleging that the Clerk of the House was held hostage in the Chamber. On getting to the Chamber, the policemen found out upon investigation that the Clerk was never held hostage, she was in her office making a report of what transpired at Plenary to be transmitted to the Executive Arm.

After a while, the Chairman also sent a team of soldiers to the Chamber alleging again that the Clerk was held hostage, and mandated them to take her out of her duty post, but they later discovered that she was never held hostage, so they also left.

It may suffice you to know that Mr. Chairman will stop at nothing to intimidate members and he is already going around intimidating some members to deny their involvement in the impeachment exercise, and we also have it on good note that the Chairman is planning to invade our next plenary with thugs which is slated for Monday, 25 July, 2022.

This is also to inform you that the former leader, Hon. Emiko Odin-Etuwewe was unanimously suspended for one month after attempting to runaway with the Mace (Symbol of Authority) and smashing same on the floor of the house

In conclusion, as lawmakers and law- abiding citizens of Nigeria, we therefore use this medium to invite the Nigerian Police and other Security Agencies to provide security for members, during our next plenary slated for Monday, July 25 2022 at the Local Government Legislative Arm.

Attached herewith is a copy of the official letter from the Clerk transmitting the impeachment exercise and election of the new leader. Also attached is the list of members who signed for the impeachment. A visual evidence is also available.

Thanks in anticipation.
