Convener of prominent political pressure group, Delta United for Change and immediate past Chairman of PDP, Warri South-West Local Government Area in Delta State, Chief Ayirimi Emami has openly dumped the PDP, insisting he can’t be standing and watching himself go “inside darkness”, but decided to join the All Progressives Congress, APC and wait for others in the PDP planning to defect.
Chief Emami while disclosing that he supported groups like Buhari Movement for Change, BMC, prior to the Presidential election, averred that his “body and soul have been in APC” before the March 28 Presidential poll.
Speaking during an enlarged gathering of Delta United for Change at his palatial residence in Warri, Delta State, Chief Emami noted that other ethnic Nationalities in the Niger Delta lived in fear under the President Goodluck Jonathan administration as a result of the ethnic cabal surrounding the President, whom he described “as a good person”.
He declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC has come to stay and stated that all APC Governors as well as top ranking officials of the party will grace his formal declaration for the APC.
Chief Emami who has since forwarded his letter of membership withdrawal as well as PDP card to the Warri South- West PDP Chairman, vowed to campaign for the APC governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor in the April 11 polls.
The member representing Uvwie Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Efe Ofobruku while addressing members of the group, noted that a true politician must show capacity, insisting that “a vote for PDP for governor is as good as giving mirror to a blind man”.
According to the lawmaker who is recontesting the Uvwie House of Assembly position under the SDP platform, he won the PDP primaries for Uvwie constituency landslide, but his ticket was given to “somebody who did not participate in the primaries”, even as he declared that PDP is now the “smallest party in Africa”. “If I win the April 11 election on my party platform (SDP) I know where I am going”, he enthused.
Secretary of Delta United for Change, Barr. Jaro Egbo in a remark stated, “we control the units, not the so called big-wigs and we don’t need big names to effect change”.
