PDP thugs attack APC candidate in Delta creeks, one feared dead another arrested
Barr. Robinson Ariyo

It was a bad outing for an All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta House of Assembly candidate, Barr. Robinson Ariyo yesterday when political thugs believed to be of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, attacked his campaign boat on their way back from some Itsekiri riverine communities opposite the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Warri, Delta State.

Though details were still very sketchy as to what really transpired, Daily Independent learnt that some PDP bigwigs in one of the communities have given orders to his boys not to allow the APC aspirant step into any the communities and when he eventually went to campaign there yesterday one of the thugs allegedly put a call through to their masters that the APC aspirant was already in one of the communities and therefore laid ambush for him along the creeks.

Sources disclosed that on his return journey back to Warri urban, the alleged PDP thugs accosted his boat and in the ensuing fracas, people fell into the river with one lady whose identity is still unknown allegedly drowning to death while one of the assailants simply identified as Solomon was lured to Warri main land and arrested.

The said Sololmon is currently cooling his feet at the “A” Division Police Headquarters Warri while the alleged dead lady has still not been found. Confirming the incident, the APC aspirant Barr. Ariyo who is witnessing the second attack from armed youths in his campaign and quest for the Assembly seat said he escaped death once again by the whiskers.

Meanwhile, the Chief Ayiri Emami –led Buhari Movement for Change, BMC and members/supporters of the Delta Movement for Change, DMC yesterday stormed the streets of Warri in large numbers campaigning for candidates of the APC for both the Governorship seat and the Houses of Assembly positions wielding the party traditional broomstick.

Led by prominent leaders of the groups, they said the time has come for the needed change, saying that the PDP has overstayed in governance and that the state now requires fresh hands and ideas to move it forward and out of opposition.

Chief Ayiri Emami Wednesday, formally defected to the APC saying that the PDP umbrella is now leaking and can no longer provide the needed shelter for its numerous supporters.
