The management of the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun near Warri, Delta State, has been charged to assess the gap in terms of efficiency and service delivery in the Oil and Gas industry.
A seasoned Geologist and petroleum expert, Dr. Olimma Ufuoma made this call at a workshop organized by the PTI entitled: “Oil and Gas Allied Companies Learning Managers” held at the Conference Centre with the Theme: Emerging Trends in Gas Development in Nigeria.
Dr. Olimma Ufuoma in her lecture, “Gas Development: On-shore and Off-shore; a level playing field of the future in the Industry” took the crowded hall down memory lane in with historical and prospective analysis with a call to regularize the frequency of such workshop with a view of confronting the technological challenges facing the oil and gas industry.
According to her, the essence of the workshop was to provide a viable platform for the creation of synergies between the management of the PTI and major players sector for the development of contemporary training solution aimed at achieving the desired objectives of enhanced service delivery and efficiency.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Acting Principal/Chief Executive Officer of the PTI, Mr. A.J. Orukele stated that, if given the right opportunity, the PTI has the technical manpower services provider to shape the future of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria and called for the rejuvenation of the workshop.
He said information gathered over the years from such workshop has enabled them to streamline their action plan and re-shape the Institute to serve the needs of the sector with middle level manpower, just as he appealed for collaboration between the PTI critical stakeholders in the sector like the Bonny LGN in the areas of human capital development, student industrial attachment placement, yearly staff exchange programme in other to take the industry to greater heights.
In his Goodwill message to the workshop, Dr. Ahmed Acidah, Manager, Human resources, Corporate planning, Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, Bonny charged the management of the Petroleum Training Institute to endeavour to send their teaching staff abroad regularly to renowned University abroad on Sabbatical for cross pollination of ideas to bring them at par with their counterparts in other parts of the developed world.
Amongst those present at the workshop were the Warri Area Manger of the Industrial Training Fund, ITF, representatives of the NLNG and Senior Personnel of the PTI.
