Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State will emerge on June 15, this year, Fresh Angle reliably gathered.
This is just as the number of aspirants may have reached nine. There are also conflicting reports that business mogul, Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim may have picked the party’s expression of interest form which expired Friday June 1.
According to a source, a group had picked the form for him last week. The source who spoke on grounds of anonymity, however, pointed out that Jimoh Ibrahim is yet to confirm his ambition to join in the race.
The contenders that have picked the party’s form include the former PDP National Legal Adviser, Chief Olusola Oke, ex-Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Navy Capt Joseph Adeusi, former Head of Service in the state, Com. Alaba Isijola, and former Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan.
Others are former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly in the Second Republic, Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, Dr. Dare Bada, Prince Niran Oladunni, Architect Ajibola Adeyeye and Hon. Mark Meduoye.
In a chat with newsmen, state PDP chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi hinted that the party would soon start interactive sessions with all the aspirants, with a view to arriving at a consensus candidate.
“If we are unable to agree on a consensus, we will apply the provision of our party’s constitution in organizing a state congress where a consensus candidate will emerge through voting,” he stated.
