Nigeria lacks transparent people in government, Jonathan declares

President Goodluck Ebele  Jonathan says Nigeria lacks transparent people like former UPU President General, late Chief Benjamin Okumagba in government.

The President who made the assertion at the final burial rites of late Chief Benjamin Okumagba on Saturday June 9 in Warri, advised the Okere Urhobo traditional council of chiefs  to sustain the legacies of the former UPU President General.
Dr. Jonathan who was represented by the minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe , opined that  instead of transparent people, it is sycophants that are found in government at all levels.

Ijaw National Leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark who described the late Benjamin Okumagba as a great fighter and a forthright man, revealed that late Benjamin Okumagba gave him 2 suites at his  Idama Hotel when his houses were razed during the Warri crisis.
While  describing the death of the former Otota(Spokesman) of Okere Urhobo as a blow to the Urhobo people and Nigeria in General , Chief Clark advised the children of  late Benjamin Okumagba to be more united.

Delta State Governor ,Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan promised the people of Okere Urhobo and the children of late Benjamin Okumagba that his administration will immortalize the late UPU President General and former Otota of Okere Urhobo.
Governor Uduaghan who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Amos Agbe Utuamah described the late Benjamin Okumagba as a “father of the people, the defender of the people as well as  an agent of change and development”.

The member representing Delta Central Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Akpo Pius Ewherido  described  late Chief Okumagba as a  prophet whose statements always come to pass.
Others who paid glowing tribute to the former UPU President General include Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, former military administrator of Delta State, Col. John Dungs,President General of UPU in the United States, Major Cletus Obahor  as well as Mr. Robert Ofobruku.
The present Ototaof Okere Urhobo, Chief Wilson Eboh, thanked  all those who have shown solidarity to his people and pledged to sustain the peace and legacies of late Chief Benjamin Okumagba.

reports that despite the obvious absence of key members of  Itifo, Eburu, Oki, Olodi and Ighogbadu  families due to their reservation over late Chief Benjamin Okumagba’s claim as Orosuen, the funeral ceremony of the former UPU President General attracted a large crowd.
