A governorship aspirant for the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the forthcoming October 20 guber election in Ondo State, Barr. Felix Adeyemi, has promised to resign if 50 per cent of residents in Akure, the Ondo State capital, do not have access to potable water in his first two years in office if voted into power.
The legal practitioner spoke with newsmen in the wake of the party’s zoning of the guber seat to the northern senatorial district of the state.
The Irun-Akoko born lawyer assured of people-oriented programmes that will put the state on high pedestal if elected, even as he expressed optimism of flying the party’s flag.
While decrying the cost of governance, Adeyemi said he would not only live among the people but also reduce the cost of governance by cutting down on the number of political appointees.
He said, “Within the first two years of my single four-year term, I promise the good people of Ondo State that if 50 per cent of the residents in Akure do not have constant running pipe borne water, I will resign. I will resign if at least 25 per cent of residents in the other 17 local governments of the state do not equally have pipe borne water and stable power supply. I will resign if Ondo State citizens and residents are not more aware of their rights, duties and responsibilities which will help foster a more civil society. My vision is for a mission and I know four years is enough for that. Presently, we have an agreement in principle with an Italian tomato puree company who are keen on setting up in Ondo State. I will be unveiling the product designed for Ondo State soon. We have a very reputable building block company that will alleviate the housing problems within our state as well as provide jobs. There is a sports that we are bringing to Ondo State that has the potential to generate 10, 000 jobs.Ondo State will be a commercial hub. Within two years, if my people do not see these, I restate, I will humbly go.”
