Warri based People’s Democratic Party, PDP Pressure Group, Okere-Urhobo Grassroots Political Forum, OUGPF has described the Appeal Court victory of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa over Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru of Labour Party, LP and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor of the All Progressives Congress, APC as historic, particularly after the Governor gave out his daughter in marriage barely six days earlier.
The OUGPF in a statement released Thursday December 24, 2015 shortly after the reconstituted five-man Court of Appeal Panel headed by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji delivered judgment, upholding the election of Governor Okowa in the April 11, 2015 Governorship/House of Assembly polls, contended that despite the apprehension and speculation that trailed the movement of the Appeal Court from Benin to Abuja, Dr. Okowa remained unruffled and focused in his quest to fully implement the S.M.A.R.T agenda.
The statement signed by the immediate past Delta State Commissioner For Special Duties, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr. Matthew Poko Opuoru and Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Sunday Aguweye on behalf of the group, enjoined Deltans to continually back the Okowa administration, insisting that there is no better time for everyone to bring their human and material resources together in the building of Delta State than now, especially against the backdrop of the dwindling monthly federal allocation occasioned by drop in the price of crude oil at the International Market.
While describing Marilyn Okowa, daughter of governor Okowa’s marriage with Gbolahan Daramola Saturday December 19 as a testament of Dr. Okowa’s resolve to nurture Delta State to political maturity as well as development, members of Okere-Urhobo Grassroots Political Forum, Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, expressed optimism that Governor’s soaring political career will be further strengthen the political ties between Delta State and South-Western part of the country.
They reaffirmed their determination to partner Dr. Okowa in the dream of building a Delta State devoid of ethnic and religious sentiments, but a State that places high premium on merit as well as hard work.
