President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina, says he and his team, have raised a record $8.9 billion for the African Development Fund, ADF amid the current global economic crisis.

According to Adesina, the amount, is the highest recorded since the Fund was established 50 years ago (1972).

Fresh Angle International can report that the AfDB President, who made the disclosure via two threads of tweet in the dawn of today, Thursday December 8, expressed gratitude to the ADF donors.

The announcement by Adesina, may have come as surprise, considering the negative effects COVID - 19 pandemic and Russia invasion of Ukraine, are having on economies across the world.

He stated in apparent excitement: "With my world-class team! We just raised $8.9 billion for the African Development Fund (ADF). We set a record, the highest in 50 years since the Fund was established!

"African Development Fund (ADF) successfully mobilized $8.9 billion for its 16th replenishment, the highest in its 50 years history since establishment in 1972. I am deeply grateful to all the ADF donors. Together, we made history to support Africa’s low-income countries! ?"
