Your headline is wrong, Igbakpa hits Fresh Angle International

The Member Representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Benson Igbakpa, has responded to Fresh Angle International story of earlier today, headlined “2023: The ones who said they made me, have no proof of making their children – Igbakpa aims dig at Ibori, associates”, saying,It is not a dig at our Leader, Chief Ibori”.

In a response tweet to our story, Hon. Ben Igbakpa, stated: Your headline is wrong. It is not a dig at our Leader, Chief Ibori. It is my opinion on the facts that some bad people who are envious of the relationship between me and our Leader are stoking the flames to incite acrimony where there is none”.

Our Story published earlier today, which attracted the response of Hon. Igbakpa, stated as follows: “The Member Representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Benson Igbakpa, who reportedly conceded defeat to Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, in the rescheduled PDP House of Representatives primary held Tuesday May 24, 2022 and went ahead to pick the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP ticket for the same position ahead of the February 25 polls, in a move viewed by some constitutional lawyers and political gladiators as contrary to the Electoral Act 2022 (As Amended) appeared to have aimed dig at Chief James Ibori and his core political associates, saying: The ones who said they made me who I am today, have no proof of making their children”.

In a series of tweets this morning, Monday December 19, the federal lawmaker, boasted: We shall hang them dry so our people can see their heinous plans to plunge our commonwealth. They're furious because I opposed it”.

The tweets by the lawmaker as obtained by Fresh Angle International, this afternoon, averred: “I'm most proud of how we have countered the divisive narrative of the cankerworms in Ethiope Federal (Constituency) this campaign season. Our people have proven their discernment to those looking to exploit exceptional conditions. They tried to blackmail the people, but they failed.

“No more hiding. Their racketeering legacy is gone. They now slur in their speeches, because they have been exposed for their bad intentions for our people. They often claim to speak the mind of our Leader, but they spoke for their personal hopes to subject our people to hardship”.

Hon. Igbakpa, whilst conceding defeat to Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu after the PDP House of Representatives primary held Tuesday May 24, stated: “I have lost my re-election bid. The grave silence on the streets, amplifies the fatal setback for Ethiope Federal Constituency. We have now seen what force and intimidation can do”.

This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper had reported on May 24 that Hon. Benson Igbakpa, polled 22 votes, while Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, got 46 votes in the rescheduled primary, after both of them recorded same number of votes in the PDP House of Representatives primary held Sunday May 22.

On May 24, after the rescheduled PDP primary, Hon. Igbakpa in a sequence of tweets, stated: “Being the representative of my people at @HouseNGR is one of the greatest honours of my life. This journey that has seen us break barriers will come to an end in 2023. Until then, I will be full of dignity and gratitude for the opportunity.

“This is not the outcome we wanted. It is not the outcome the people of Ethiope Federal Constituency wanted. The cheers on Sunday, May 22, 2022, demonstrated that, but it does not satisfy the appetite of a few to revise our progress and blur the vision of our people.

“I feel proud of what we have built together in 3 years. We have touched the vast expanse of Ethiope Federal Constituency and given our people a loud voice. We have energized our resolve in this instance and vow to continue in the same spirit for progress and unity.

“I represent a place, where the majority are good and recognize competence. They invested their hopes and expected quality representation. The public opinion is that we delivered and realized the dreams of most people. All of these have been painfully stolen by the establishment.

“The grave silence on the streets amplifies the fatal setback for Ethiope Federal Constituency. My contest was never about me, but for the people. Hence their grief. Neither I nor the people prevailed in our hope for sustenance. We have now seen what force and intimidation can do.

“I will always remain devoted to the development of the Ethiope Federal Constituency and continue to advance my belief in democratic good governance. I wish the winners of today's re-run all the best and I pray that the losers (the people) can endure the outcome and the aftermath”.
