The 0.38km road project being embarked upon at Omadino in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, by Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC, will be asphalted next week, Fresh Angle International can exclusively report.

Highlights of the Inspection Visit:

This much was obtained by This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper on Friday February 3, when the Chairman of IRDC, Mr. Itse Orugboh, Secretary of IRDC, Richard Omare Esq. and other critical stakeholders of the communities’ development agency, under the NNPC/ Chevron Nigeria Limited JV GMoU Governance Model, were conducted by IRDC Project Engineer, Engr. Mattias Pessu, round projects being executed by IRDC at Omadino.

Engr. Matthias Pessu, who gave the assurance during inspection of the road project by the IRDC leadership, disclosed that the road project, which connects Nenuwa Townhall, from the main Omadino access road, opposite the Technical College being built by Delta State Government, was recently stone-base.

Chairman of IRDC, Itse Orugboh, who led the inspection visit, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the 14 buildings of 2bedroom detached bungalow estate, 250 persons- capacity civic centre and the internal road projects, being constructed by IRDC.

He acknowledged that most of the projects being executed by IRDC, are due for the next milestone.

Secretary of IRDC, Richard Omare Esq., on his part, stated: “For what we have seen, it is a commendable effort by the contractors. These are jobs awarded without mobilization (Normal APG). The contractors, have shown that they have the capacities for what they have done, by mobilizing funds from various sources, without IRDC’s assistance”.

A pivotal stakeholder in the NNPC/Chevron Nigeria Limited JV GMoU Governance Model, Dr. Jeffrey Wilkie, who was part of the inspection visit to Omadino, averred: “The work is commendable. We have 14 buildings of 2units bedroom, most of them are above 50%.

“This is a project handled by IRDC, if not for IRDC, we wouldn’t have this on ground. We still have challenges though, PRC (Project Review Committee of IRDC) was advised to visit and ascertain the jobs done so far, so that the contractors can have their payments. As far as I am concerned, IRDC is still the relevant agency for development of communities in the three Warris (Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas). We appreciate the efforts of the community (Omadino) and we want to thank the IRDC through the leadership of Mr. Itse Orugboh, for going this far”.

One of the contractors, who identified himself simply as Engr Oris, told This Newspaper: “I want to appreciate the IRDC committee. The project (the 14 buildings-estate) has gone far and they (IRDC leadership) have responded to us at the first milestone. I want to appeal for the second milestone or full payment to be made, to enable us achieve it and make them (IRDC exco) have good name for the project they are monitoring”.
