Delta APC leaders back Chiedu Ebie, Igbuya over NDDC Board
Keston Okoro

APC Leaders from Delta State under the aegis of the APC Leaders and Stakeholders Congress have backed the appointment of Barr Chiedu Ebie, former Secretary to the Delta State Government and Rt Hon Monday Ovbigho Igbuya, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly on their appointment as Chairman and Commissioner representing Delta State respectively on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, describing their choice by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as strategic and perfect.

Addressing newsmen in Asaba, Delta State, Chairman of the group and former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Dr. Liege Lord Keston Muhammed Okoro, condemned those complaining about the choice of these two leaders as enemies of the party, particularly those who lost out in the power-game for consideration for the plum jobs.

‘’We are peeved by a dubiously concocted and despicable diatribe from a self-styled group of irresponsible and insignificant and frustrated elements who hide under a supposed APC Support Group to condemn the well considered, politically strategic and generally accepted nomination of Barr Chiedu Ebie as Chairman of the reconstituted Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission by Mr President in a statement signed by one Comrade Kelvin Omavuivwighre Ezekiel. Comrade Ezekiel and his gang of ramble rousers should hide their face in shame for classifying Chiedu Ebie as PDP member whereas he lost his job as Secretary to the Delta State Government because of his pro-Tinubu/APC posture.

‘’It is public knowledge that shortly after the general elections, Chiedu Ebie was officially suspended from the PDP for the simple reason of his overt membership and total support for the APC in the last elections. Chiedu Ebie left the PDP since last year and worked fully for the APC in the general election. The likes of Chiedu Ebie are the only few APC leaders from Delta North who registered impressive resistance to the PDP in the last polls. How dare this gang of failed political elements profile our illustrious and critical party leaders as PDP members?

‘’Mr Chiedu Ebie is a leader in the APC in Delta State. PDP made a public show of him for defecting to and working for the APC in the last elections. Those who wanted to hang on to the NDDC job after fighting the APC in the state should hide their faces in shame. We in APC know ourselves in Delta State and can confidently declare that the choice of Chiedu Ebie and Monday Igbuya was powerful and impressive. We therefore commend President Bola Tinubu for the choice of these men for the NDDC job’’. Keston Okoro declared.

The Delta APC Leaders and Stakeholders also commend the leadership of Chief James Ibori in bringing out these two men to serve on the NDDC board, stressing that with the Bayelsa-born former aide to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Dr Samuel Ogbuku as Managing Director and CEO of the Commission, Delta state would be playing a very strategic role in the reconstituted board.

Dr. Keston Okoro, called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore the antics of the failed political bigots and move on with his renewed hope vision for the Niger Delta with the new board as there will be no end to protest with any choice in the polity.

‘’To us, APC leaders in Delta State, Chiedu Ebie and Monday Igbuya are good to go. Their choice is perfect and they shall deliver on the mandate for a better Niger Delta in no time. Special thanks are due Chief James Ibori and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for their unparalleled leadership of the party in the south-south area of Nigeria’’, the statement added.

The group used the opportunity to make a strong case about the contribution of Udu Local Government Area as the backbone of the APC in the state which deliver 5/5 for the party in the general elections, adding that Udu had suffered immensely in the hands of the PDP in the state for always standing for the APC in all elections.

‘’We also make this special appeal to the APC leadership to consider Udu for special reward over their commitment and unwavering support for the APC in the state. We have always delivered in all elections for the APC. Despite the suffocating disposition of the PDP towards our members, we have always stood our ground to deliver. Therefore it will not be out of place to consider Udu people for special rewards and appointments to encourage them to do more for the party’’, the Udu-born Dr Okoro added.
