The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Warri South Chapter, Comrade Raymond Emiko, says the staff canteen at the council main secretariat in Warri, commissioned on Friday September 15, by the Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Chief (Mrs.) Divine Ann Iniovosa, was like a birthday gift from the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi.
Comrade Emiko, who made the assertion during a brief ceremony before the commissioning, stated: “I want to say I am the happiest man today, because the idea or dream to set up a canteen in this premises, has been on for a very long one.

“My predecessors, thought about it, for one reason or the other, God has made it possible that in my time, we have been able to establish one in the council.
“I want to specifically thank the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi. Coincidentally, today happens to be his birthday and so we are receiving this as a birthday gift from our chairman.

“We want to thank him, because without his support and that of his management, ably led by the Head of Personnel Management, we wouldn't have been able to achieve this and as a union, we have cooperated with the management.
“There is peace in Warri South Local Government, the relationship between management and staff as well as the political class, is very cordial and I pray that it continues like this.
Mr. Augustine Akaeze
“We want to thank everyone that made it possible, the Treasurer is not here today, however, I want to show my appreciation to him and everyone that has contributed to this. Members of my Excos have been very supportive to see that we achieved this, we give God all the glory and pray that as the canteen is being commissioned today, it will receive patronage from within and outside and we pray too that the Chairman should use this room to do more for us in the remaining days of his tenure.”
Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, in his remarks, described Comrade Emiko as a proactive NULGE Chairman who knows what to do to keep the work-force at their duty post.

Mr. Oribioye, appealed to staffers of the council, to patronize the canteen and help spread the message, that there is a very good canteen at the Council secretariat, just as he advised the NULGE Chairman to get a POS machine in the canteen environment.
The Head of Personnel Management of Warri South Local Government, Mr. Augustine Akaeze, commended the NULGE chairman for the laudable vision, charging management of the canteen to measure up to our standard, so that the issue of going outside to eat will end.
