DESOPADEC: Removing Wood will set you up against Itsekiri, ILOT tells Okowa

As the plot thickens by those who were used “to doing things the DESOPADEC way-Impunity, Profligacy, Corruption and Contempt” to mount pressure on Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to sack the Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Engr. Victor Wood from the Commission, revered Itsekiri group, Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILOT has petitioned the governor, saying any plan to sack the ex-SPDC Management Staff will set the governor against Itsekiri people.

In the petition dated July 13, 2016 and sent to Fresh Angle International via electronic mail Saturday July 16, 2016, ILOT asserted that the battle to sack Wood “has been taken outside the shores of Nigeria”, declaring that DESOPADEC “has successfully created emergency millionaires and billionaires of those connected with the commission”, stressing that “it took the intervention of well meaning Itsekiri leaders to persuade him to accept the job”.

According to the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, Engr. Victor Wood’s “presence in the Board has built some confidence in the Commission because of his regular consultation with Itsekiri Stakeholders”.

The petition signed by ILOT Secretary, Edward Ekpoko, Esq. on behalf of the Itsekiri respected body described DESOPADEC as “Our DASUKIGATE”, urging Governor Okowa to “resist any pressure that will put your administration on a collision course with the Itsekiri Nation”.

The petition added, “the alleged offence of Mr. Wood is the present investigation into DESOPADEC by the EFCC that will surely unravel the depth of corruption in the Commission”.
