Breaking: Warri South Council disbands youth organizations, development movement in Okere-Urhobo, over security concerns


 

 

The Executive Council of Warri South Local Government, has announced the immediate dissolution of All Youth Organisations/ Development Movement in Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri.

 

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael E. Tidi, in a statement released this evening, Tuesday December 5, noted that the disbandment is to avoid possible breakdown of law and order in Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, following the leadership tussle between, “Okere-Urhobo Development Movement and The Olodi Community Development Movement.”

 

The Warri South Local Government Chief Security Officer, in the statement released through Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, explained that the decision was, “sequel to the resolution of the Warri South Local Government Area, Peace and Security Committee meeting, held at the Honourable Chairman’s Office, on the 29th of November, 2023.”

 

The statement averred inter-alia: “The Okere -Urhobo Development Movement and the Olodi Community Development Movement Chairmen and all affected Officers of the aforementioned bodies, should stop forthwith parading themselves as officers of any of the  organisations.

 

The security agencies, have been directed to deal decisively with any youth that flout the above directive.

 

No money under any guise, should be paid to anyone or group of persons as the Delta State anti- development law still subsist. 

 

Any attempt by any group of persons under any fictitious name to extort money from the innocent law abiding citizens, should be reported promptly to the Nigeria Police Force.”
