Socio-economic activities recorded slow take-off in Warri, the commercial nerve centre of Delta State, today, Wednesday January 3 as Nigerians observed the first working day of the year 2024.
Checks by Fresh Angle International, revealed that many private shops and offices along major roads and streets in the Oil City of Warri and environs, remained closed, while commercial buses and tricycles seen plying the usually busy NPA Express Way, from the Effurun Roundabout, struggled to get few passengers.
Even though commercial banks opened to customers for a normal business service, there were indications that Warri and its neighbouring towns, may not experience the usual socio-economic boom until Monday January 8, when public and private primary as well as secondary schools, will resume for their second term academic programme.
