Academics in Kogi harp on preservation of Nigeria culture


Some academics in Kogi State, have called on Government at all level, including relevant stakeholders to join hands in preserving Nigeria cultural heritage.

 

They made the call on Thursday during the 2023/2024 Cultural Day organized by Anchor International Schools Lokoja, Kogi State.

 

According to them, there is urgent needs for parents to instill discipline and morals on their children which has been the long cultural traditions of Nigeria as a nation.

 

Prominent personalities such as wife to the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Mrs. Justina Akinwunmi, wife to the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Princess Karimat Abdullahi, Caretaker Chairman Lokoja, Local Government Area, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu who graced the occasion expressed satisfaction with the quality of learning and teaching in the school.

 

In his remarks, the Caretaker Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Area, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu, described Culture as a way of life that teaches discipline and morals. 

 

He commended the Management of Anchor International Schools for the cultural reorientation that would help in moulding the character of the children.

 

The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the rich display of culture and diversity displayed by the students and pupils at this year's event, adding that the School remain a place of moulding good morals and academic excellence.

 

He admonished parents to continue to invest in the education of their children, pointing out that, not minding the economic downturn, the education and well-being of children should remain a priority.

 

While pointing out that the economic downturn is not restricted to tribes or religion, the Chairman assured that government at all levels are working to overcome the challenges, charged parents to intensify in their prayers.

 

He tasked Nigerians to be prayerful and patient with Government amidst the present economic challenges, stressing that the Country will soon be surmounted.

 

Also speaking, wife of the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja Mrs Justina Akinwunmi, thanked parents for patronizing the Schools, noting that, the testimony from parents and examination body attests to the vantage position the school holds in the State.
