A non-governmental organization, the Foundation for Enhancement and Promotion of Family Life has raised alarm that over one million children in Kogi State have been made vulnerable as a result of the spate of divorce in the State in the last eleven years.
The Chief Executive Officer of FEPFL, John Ojochenemi Amabi raised the alarm when he paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Confluence Cable Network, owners of Ctv and Grace FM Simbabi Ogbeha.
Amabi who blamed successive governments for neglecting marriage institution, thanked the Management of Confluence Cable Network “for their selfless service to humanity”.
While pointing out that the foundation is out to advocate against divorce in Nigeria, Amabi highlighted the root causes of divorce to include failure of key stakeholders to lead by example, adding that leaving marriage in hands of traditional rulers have retrogressed the purpose it was established.
According to Amabi, Home Front, Silvia and Friends, which are some of the programs aired on Ctv and Grace FM have directly and indirectly made useful impact in tackling the scourge of broken marriage, adding that the foundation has the core mandate to protect the marriage institution.
While appreciating his guest for the ovation about the company, the Managing Director, Confluence Cable Network noted that if the family foundation is weak, the society suffers.
Simbabi Ogbeha opined that western culture adopted in child upbringing has affected moral and family values in the African setting, even as he promised to collaborate with the foundation to see that marriage failure is curbed in the society.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of 10 copies of a book titled emotions and marriage written by John Ojochenrmi Amabi to the Managing Director of the company.
