Omadino Graduate Forum Calls for Fair Employment Practices by Chevron Nigeria Limited

The Omadino Graduate Forum, representing the graduates of Omadino community in Warri Federal Constituency, has expressed disappointment over what they described as discriminatory employment practices of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, saying, “despite the abundance of natural resources in our homeland, our graduates continue to face unemployment and struggling to secure employment opportunities.”

The Forum, led by its Chairman; Comrade James Odume, Secretary; Comrade Jim Okeh and PRO; Comrade James Temienor, in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International, today, Wednesday May 15, condemned the perceived marginalization and alleged suppression of Omadino indigenes by Chevron Nigeria Limited.

The statement, averred: “For years, our forefathers leased Otunana and Makaraba fields to the company (Chevron Nigeria Limited) yet not a single Omadino graduate has been employed through direct entry level. Furthermore, we are aware of the ongoing secret recruitment exercise for 300 personnel to Chevron facilities, where the management has prioritized hiring individuals from other regions, excluding qualified Omadino graduates.

“This blatant disregard for our rights will not be tolerated. As a host community to major facilities, including Otunana and Makaraba, producing over 30,000 barrels of crude daily, it is unacceptable that no Omadino graduate is employed in these fields.

“Our graduates possess the necessary competence to hold any position and we demand an end to casualization and short-service employment.

“We urge the relevant authorities in Chevron to take immediate action to address our grievances, or risk facing disruptions to their operations. We will not stand idle, while our rights are continually violated.”
