Founder of Bessie and Gbone Foundation, Alero Naomi Tenumah, has berated government at all levels for playing down the celebration of this year children's day, saying it is counterproductive to the psychological development of children, as it relates to their sense of patriotism .
Tenumah, who made the assertion in a message to celebrate children across Nigeria on the occasion of children's day today, said Bessie and Gbone Foundation, was particularly troubled about the difficult times underprivileged children contend with daily.
She assured that Bessie and Gbone Foundation, will continually strive towards alleviating the sufferings of underprivileged children, in collaboration with sister - NGOs, government agencies and International organisations.
Whilst recalling how children's day was celebrated across the country decades ago, Tenumah, disclosed plans by Bessie and Gbone Foundation, to organise special outreach for children come October 1 this year, as part of activities to celebrate Nigeria's independence anniversary.
