Ibori not interested in joining APC, Okowa taunts opposition
Chief James Ibori & Governor Ifeanyi Okowa

Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has debunked speculations making the rounds that former Delta State Governor and founding father of PDP in the State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, was set to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying Chief Ibori “has never contemplated or decided to join the All Progressive Congress”.

Governor Okowa who made the declaration Tuesday February 7 during a press briefing at Government House Press Centre, Asaba, averred that Chief James Ibori “is a born again Christian”, interested in reuniting with members of his family.

He argued that the thirteen percent oil derivation money to the oil producing States was not adequate for the development of the region, noting that the cost of road construction in the region cannot be compared with the cost in the Northern part of the country.

On issue of herdsmen, the governor noted that it is a National problem which can only be solved through the establishment of ranches, even as he maintained that the 1999 Constitution allows free movement of citizens to any part of the country.

Dr. Okowa said investigation regarding the Independent Power Projects, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area is ongoing, explaining that the earlier analysis on the projects were not adequate. "We are still doing a lot of investigations regarding what to do. Can will resell it or privatise it or revive the IPP? That analysis is still being done," he stated.

He also announced that henceforth, he will be spending more time in Warri since the Government House there has fully been renovated.

On the alleged ten million dollars purportedly given to a mistress from the Paris Club money refund, Okowa said, “I have since become a born again and i don't think of mistress how much more to give state money to.”
