Kogi State government is to establish four unity schools across the three senatorial districts of the State.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Sunday Olorunleke gave the hint when he appeared before the House Standing Committee on Education Science and Technology to defend his ministry’s budget.
The Commissioner said the proposed 2017 budget would ensure the provision of uniforms, desk and chairs, free of charge for all pupils in the state.
He also said there would be renovations, rehabilitation and construction of new classrooms, equip laboratories and e libraries as well as taking of the welfare of staff.
Meanwhile, The Kogi State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education, Science and Technology has bemoaned on the sorry state of education in Kogi State, calling on stakeholders to salvage the situation.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abdulkareem Sanni Kekere gave the advice during the budget defence of the State Ministry of Education Science and Technology.
Responding, the Kogi State Commissioner of Education, Sunday Tolorunleke said the Ministry was ambitious and optimistic about the 2017 budget geared towards allocating scarce resources to better the lives of Kogites.
