About 18 persons, including the driver of an 18-seater Hiace Bus belonging to Delta City Transport Scheme, popularly called Uduaghan Bus, escaped death at about 2pm Monday February 13 when the bus suddenly caught fire few metres after take-off.
An eye witness told Fresh Angle International that the bus which took off, from the park by PTI Juction, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area on its way to Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area, suddenly caught fire from the engine and was immediately noticed by passersby who informed the driver, Mr. Akata Lucky.
The passengers immediately jumped out before the fire engulfed the bus. Efforts to use fire extinguisher to stop the inferno from spreading were unsuccessful as it was discovered that the fire extinguisher was ineffective.
Majority of passengers reportedly lost their personal effects to the inferno.
