IHF backs Edema’s call for Disbarment of Mr. Eric Omare by the Body of Benchers

Vibrant advocacy group, Itsekiri Historical Front, IHF, has backed the call, for disbarment of Mr. Eric Omare by the Body of Benchers, over perceived peddling of falsehood, purportedly disparaging court judgements, cited in the Nigerian law and alleged disregard for the rule of law.

Fresh Angle International, understands that the call by IHF, was sequel to earlier demand in a National Satellite Television, by the Olu of Warri's Representative to NNPC, Edema Collins Oritsetimeyin.

The Itsekiri Historical Front, in an electronic statement sent to This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper, today, Friday July 19, anchored their position on the need to, “push for accountability and integrity in the legal profession.”

The statement, which was e-signed by the Chairman, Secretary and PRO of Itsekiri Historical Front, Lily-white O. Esigbone, Silva Maku Samuel and Kwanne Woode, respectively, noted: “Mr. Omare came on air to discredit the Supreme Court judgement, which state that there is no Ijaw in Warri South Local Government Area. This move, by Mr. Omare, has shown that he lacks respect and total disregard to the rule of law and oath he swore to protect.

“The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Council, LPDC, will be formally receiving a report to this effect, if Mr. Omare fails to retract his statement on Air within the next 21 days. Mr. Omare has violated ethical standards and total disregard to the rule of law and at such deserves disbarment.”

The group, averred that for Mr. Omare to support Chief Victor Okumagba’s position on National TV, that Warri South Metropolis, is owned by the Urhobos and Ijaws, portrays Mr. Omare’s “disregard for the rule of law.”

According to IHF, all land cases in Warri has been settled at the Supreme Court, with “the Urhobos having possessory right of 281.1 acres.”
