The Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital ,Lokoja ,Dr . Olatunde Alabi has admonished the newly elected members of the executive officers of the Nigeria Medical Association to always be guided by ethics, of the profession .
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Dr. Alabi gave this advice when the new Exco members and others paid a courtesy and solidarity visit to his office in Lokoja on Monday.
The Chief Medical Director explained that it is very important for the medical practitioners to be always be above the board and work diligently, tasking them to work hard and respect others.
Dr Alabi assured the members of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA of management support and cooperation.
He stated that the management will not relent in its efforts to ensure the welfare of the members and the well being for efficient service delivery at FTH .
He also commended the NMA members for their solidarity with the Management of the Federal Teaching Hospital ,Lokoja when one of the medical personnel was kidnapped recently.
"The management and family members appreciated your support during the tribulations.The the security situation has become worrisome and needed urgent attention by the government all all levels" Alabi posited .
He therefore called on the security agencies to be more proactive in order to prevent future occurrences, noting that it was this kind of situation that led to the exodus to seek for greener pastures in the foreign land.
Dr Alabi also tasked the government on the improved welfare of the medical practitioners in the country to encourage them to stay back at home and work for humanity rather than to seek for jobs else where.
The Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association Kogi Chapter, Abubarka Hassan expressed gratitude to the CMD, assuring him of the NMA members' cooperation.
Hassan also promised that the members of the NMA will continue to do their best to promote professionalism through diligent hard work to achieve the desire results .
He also sought the cooperation of the general public patronising the health tertiary institution to comport themselves , adding that the medical personnel are always ready to attend to their needs and therefore should always be civil in their approach irrespective of any situation or the status of a patient. .
