100 Days In Office: Avweromre Commissions Several Projects Amidst Excitement


Hon. Dr. Lucky Avweromre, on Friday 25 October 2024 commenced the commissioning of projects being part of major activities to mark his One Hundredth Days in office as the Executive Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area.

 

The commissioning were earlier stepped down as mark of respect for the late Hon Olorogun Taleb Tebite, who was the Executive Director (Projects) DESOPADEC and Director General of his campaign organization during electioneering period had passed on recently and his burial week coincidenced with the one hundredth day in office.

 

Renovation of Health centre at Okwagbe and a security post, provision of solar light for the health centre; the reconstruction of Baba Ido primary school gate, provision of solar water, and sand filling of school road were part of the projects done by the new council chairman.

 

 

Commissioning the projects at Okwagbe Health Centre, Hon Festus Utuama, member representing Ughelli South constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly in his speech, he expressed his delight at the chairman's feat within the period of his assumption of office stressing that he should do more.

 

The commissioning of the car park of the legislative arm of Ughelli South Local Government Council as well as the completion of renovation work on the entire legislative building including the installation of basic office facilities such as air conditioners and furniture.

 

Our Ughelli South Bureau Chief, reports that the State Director of Protocol, Hon (Chief) Sunday Onoriode, who represented the Executive Governor of the Delta State had commissioned the completely renovated lawmaker's complex. In his commendation, he lauded the council Chairman for his effort within the short time he has spent in office just as he expressed confidence in his capacity.

 

Speaking at the official commissioning of the renovated legislative building, Hon Avweromre held that he was challenged into embarking on total renovation of the entire legislative building because of what he referred as poor and dilapidated condition of the lawmaking's complex.

 

The council boss who was the pioneer leader of Ughelli South Local Government Council Legislative Arm on the return to democracy in 1999 reportedly expressed serious displeasure at the state of the building when he came in as the Executive Chairman of the Council having used it some twenty-four years ago as leader of the house.

 

Dr. Avweromre further said "today's commissioning is in keeping faith with and fulfilling our campaign promises to the people of Ughelli South Local Government Council as envisioned in our four point agenda anchored on Peace and Security; Unity and Oneness; Innovation and Partnership and Infrastructural Development in appendage to the M.O.R.E. Agenda of the Governor."

 

Meanwhile, Chief Joshua Iboyi, President General Okwagbe Waterside and Mr Dolor Sunday of the Okwagbe-in-land as well as Mr Sunday Shangulor, PDP chairman Jeremi Ward III all expressed their appreciation to the council boss adding that the executive chairman has fulfilled his campaign promises to the Okwagbe community.

 

In another development, the Executive Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Lucky Avweromre on inspection visited the completed Okpe Olomu Health Centre.

 

Speaking with newsmen after the inspection, the council boss promised to provide furniture and other equipment, he said project have been abandoned for over twenty years, but when he came on board he took it upon him self to complete the project within his hundredth days in office.

 

We will soon commission the Health Centre and the Health Centre will start working 24/7 with health Doctors and nurses, he concluded. 

 

On the entourage of the Council boss were: Hon Happy Mukoro, Vice chairman; Rt Hon Mary Andrew Majemite, leader of the legislative Arm, Hon Bright Ovayaro, Majority leader; Chief John Ewenede, Secretary to the Local Government; among others.
