A coalition of youths in Lokoja, The Light Up Lokoja Group, has given the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC seven days ultimatum with effect from Thursday March 9 to ensure improved power supply in Lokoja or face mass protests.
In a strongly-worded petition to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the group warned that if there is no improvement in power supply, they would embark on a demonstration that will disrupt socioeconomic activities in Kogi State.
The petition which was made available to Our Kogi State Correspondent by the group’s Leader and Convener, Comrade Suleiman Isyaka, reads, in part, “we, the members of the above named organization concerned about the paucity of electricity in our beloved Lokoja, write to inform you of our dissatisfaction with the situation as it has hampered economic and social activities in the city.”
Fresh Angle International can report that the petition which copied Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar Ahmed Imam, the Business Manager, AEDC, Lokoja Business Office, Lokoja Local Government Administrator, Hon. Lawal Shiru and all security agencies, stressed, “in view of the above, we therefore demand an improved power supply in the upward of between at least eighteen and twenty hours per day within the next seven days.”
