Why Comr.  Emiko Oghomienor  Should Be Commended For  Speaking, By Tuoyo Ofuyaekpone

Contrary opinion is the opposite of the sentiment held by the majority of persons in a certain clime.  Every Societal development is beacon of this all - important aspect of life. Any society where there are  no  contrary opinions, development is elusive.

That Comr. Emiko Oghomienor could pick up the courage  to speak when many people seemed seemed scared to speak, is a great testament to his strong character.

The legitimate he raised, must be dealt with, for us not to run into another season of internal litigation regarding the tenure of INYC executive.

The decision of Ogiame is a welcome decision, if the question of constitution was not hanging. But since the issue of constitution is hanging, it would have been wise for  consultations to have taken place, before such   hurricane decision was made.

In other climes, monarchs don't rush into matters of youths. When there are issues as to legality and factions; stakeholders will meet and resolve them. It is only when the stakeholders  faii that the matter is reported to the traditional rulers, to use their high office to advise.

I'm not new to INYC matters, so i can speak conveniently on the subject. I have also served as the Personal Assistant, P.A to the first President of the body, Hon.D.O.R.

When Baba Atuwatse II took a decision to support  Comr Esimaje Awani in the time past, most of the stakeholders  went against it, because it was against  the norm of the association. Those stakeholders are today major actors in the palace.  These stakeholders hurriedly put up the Agbas led executive. Two palace chiefs today were major actors in that script. One a lawyer and the other a women mobilizer.

When Baba Ikenwoli tried to harmonise   both factions,  a section of the stakeholders told him he cannot do that.  Hon. Michael Diden, from nowhere, was  pronounced as the BOT of the association. in 2019, i along side Collins Edema, Bawo Eyeyibo, Kelly Nanna and David Iwere, were in court to challenge the second tenure given to Agbas.  the outcome of the court decision is that INYC is not a juristic person.

Again when Ejele was pronounced BOT, sidelining his peers,  a section protested to the king and he listened to them. Meetings were held  in Abuja, Warri and Sapele, where compromise was  reached to allow Agbas tenure to fly.

So,  Emiko Oghomienor  speaking truth today to the high stool, he should be commended, not vilified.

My brother, Esimaje Awani was the one who went to inaugurate the Agbas led elders' council for the second term, without any election held and without following the constitution of the association,  a total disregard for the elders as well as principal stakeholders of the association. This can't happen in other places, i complained and wrote episodes ,but i was called names.

Not just that, he,  Esimaje also failed to respect the  guiding law promulgated by Baba Ikenwoli when he said nobody above 40 years of age, should hold youth executive position. By the time he and the commissioner for youth went to swear in Agbas in Ode Itsekiri, all members of the executive, were  above 40  years.

I share the opinion that younger persons should be given  room for leadership development  and INYC is one of the bodies that is best for that purpose. However,  i fear if the age presently being postulated will be beneficial to the generality of Itsekiri people and the core idea for which the INYC was birthed.
