A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Warri North Local Government Area, Mr. David Odeli, has insinuated political victimization of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, following his arrest yesterday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Odeli, who described the arrest of the 2023 PDP Vice Presidential candidate as selective regional justice, queried the EFCC: “Is there no petition against the immediate past Rivers State governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike? Where is the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello? ls it only former governors of PDP controlled states that are accused of looting state treasuries?”
According to the Warri North PDP Chieftain and community leader, our democracy is sliding towards a negative trajectory, where political tools are being deployed to fight perceived political opponents and embarrass opposition political parties.
He stated: “The EFCC should not be used to destroy our hard-earned democracy. The Nigeria justice system, should not be used to witch-hunt political opponents. The greatest asset to progressive governance, is the rule of law. Nigeria should work for everyone not region or political parties.”
