The Permanent Secretary, PS, Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, Delta South Senatorial District, Dr. (Mrs.) Awoke Ejedimu, says Delta State Government under the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, has committed much resources to infrastructures, furniture, science equipment as well as employment of teachers and prompt payment of teachers.
Our Principal Correspondent, reports that Dr. Ejedimu made the disclosure Thursday November 28, at the Post Primary Education Board, PPEB office in Warri, while addressing stakeholders across the nine secondary schools in Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.
She noted that the proper functioning of schools, demand collaborative effort between the government and other stakeholders, urging the communities where schools are situated to support the government, even as she commended some communities for taking education as top priority in the Local Government Area.
The PS also identified some unique challenges affecting the riverine and urban secondary schools in Warri South-West, to include flood ravaging the schools, lack of adequate teachers and the employment of community teachers to support government employed teachers.
Dr. Ejedimu, told the stakeholders that her meeting with the relevant stakeholders, was intended to foster a better future for the children, saying education is a core legacy to give to the younger generation.

Some Stakeholders from Warri South-West Local Government Area, representing their communities and the secondary schools included, Chief Sylvester Tiebebedigha- Ogbe-Ijoh, Teimo Abraham- Oporoza community leader, Comr. Kenedabor Julius- Naifor, Island community leader, Comrade Opukeme, Comrade Ebikeme Onos Sawacha, Chief Seibiribo Johnson, Orisama Amehinera- Agogboro and Francis Ayeku - Secretary of Kokodiagbene community.
The representatives called for special preference to be given riverine schools in Warri South-West Local Government Area, when it comes to teaching appointments.
They appealed for logistics, accommodation and provision of portable drinking water to be given to teachers across the area.
Principal of Agogboro Secondary School, Comrade Ishmael Ikuejawa, advocated for increase of WAEC centres in the schools across Warri South-West, in order to make it more attractive for students.
He as well used the medium to appeal to the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and other notable stakeholders from Warri South-West Local Government Area to focus more into the education sector, especially in making the secondary schools WAEC/NECO Centres.
