It is appalling to resort to blowing up pipelines to seek attention – Itsekure

An Opinion leader in Niger Delta and Public Affairs Analyst, Sir Matthew Itsekure, says it is appalling to blow up Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL pipelines around Dibi field area in Warri North Local Government Area, just to seek the attention of Government and International Oil and Gas Companies, IOCs.

Sir Itsekure, in an electronic statement Friday November 29, said he heard about the incident with rude shock.

He stated inter-alia: “I heard with rude shock about the blowing up of the CNL pipelines around the Dibi field area of its operations resulting to the shorting-in of the twin fields of Dibi-Olero, from operations and production of crude oil and gas ultimately leading to loss of revenue as well as reducing what Delta state, will receive as allocation from FAAC since the higher production of crude oil and gas you contribute the higher your share.

“It's most appalling to resort to an outdated method to seeking attention of both Government and lOCs to your plights, destroying the facilities for production when decent alternatives that can earn you honour abounds.

“This crippling model can only achieve one thing, Backward thinking that has no place in any civilized society, especially now that the current government at the centre as well as our state, are in dire need of every resource to meet development of her citizens.

“It is highly unlikely if any goal outside evil can be achieved in the agitation journey, said to be responsible for this primitive option by the outlaws masquerading as freedom fighters.

“It is therefore expedient for government at all levels, through the security agencies to bring these marauders to book, sparing no effort and make example out of them to deter future occurrence.”
