Director, Riverine Infrastructural Development in Delta State, Chief Ebikeme Anthony Clark, has declared that he was happy to be part of the success story of the Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac administration of Warri South Local Government, saying for the first time, he's witnessing construction of a bridge by a local government council in Delta State.

Chief Clark, spoke in Warri, Delta State, Wednesday December 4, whilst flagging off the Old UCC Road and Mosque Road at Igbudu Market, Warri and Agbeyi Avenue/Ugbomeji Bridge, Ifie-kporo Community, also in Warri.

He has been working for the four months that he has been in office. I am happy to be part of this success story of this local government, under the leadership of Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac. I will go back to tell the governor that he is working and fully on ground.”

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, in his remarks, asserted: “If not for the MORE AGENDA, who would have thought that the Old UCC Road and Mosque Road in Igbudu Market, will be constructed. I will like to let you know that the period for the construction of these roads, is maximum one month. It is not just the construction of the roads, but also drainage.

In the minds of lot of persons, is it really possible for a local government to construct a bridge? With the backing of my principal, the governor, I want to tell you that it is possible. In about sixty days from now, we are all going to experience what is called the ninth wonders of the world. I want to assure the youth and women that this project will create a lot of employment for our people.

“We have come to simplify what governance is, it's not rocket science, it's as simple as what you're seeing.”

While Warri South PDP Leader, Chief (Dr.) Joseph Sisanmi Otumara, commended Comrade Agbateyiniro for citing the projects, saying, “if you go to Zamfara, other far North, such projects may not be found there, because of the fund,” Warri Urhobo PDP Leader, Prof. (Chief) Israel Abido, stated: “Agbateyiniro is the hero of our time, he's the one bringing light that will shine through the forest and make the place to open up with different infrastructures coming in for the people.”

Chairman of Ifie-kporo Community, Dr. Monday Agbeyi, who was apparently delighted with the bridge project flag off, gave plaudits to the Warri South Local Government Boss on behalf of people of Ifie-kporo Community.

The Chairman of Warri Investment Committee, Barr. Tsewo Edema, averred: “We are placing this community (Ifie-kporo) on the world map. For the council chairman to dream big like this, it shows that the governor loves you people very much.

We are creating a new Warri inside Ifie, in the next few years, we will be talking about universities inside Ifie. This particular project was proposed for NDDC long ago, it could not happen, but the local government chairman went to the governor and told him that his people need development, that they have not seen before. The bridge will commence, it will start and it will end. We are creating channels for development, enough of poverty and under-development.”

The Head of Works Department, Warri South Local Government Council, Engr. Tetsola Tuoyo Greggory, who gave brief insights on the road and bridge projects, explained: “The purpose of these projects (the Old UCC and Mosque Roads) is to ease traffic in Igbudu Market.

Usually, local government councils concern themselves with market, roads, but with our capacity chairman, we can tell you for the very first time that the local government council is contemplating carrying the 60 meters pile bridge.

We are very concern about getting this bridge across, we have an ambitious six months target to get this bridge across. We believe that when this bridge crosses over, it will open up a huge land space, making it possible for schools, markets and further development to take place.”

Engr. Tetsola disclosed that the council had already carried out the soil test, to make sure it has the bearing capacity to carry out the massive project, just as he sought collaboration with the host community, in making sure they successfully execute the project in record time.”
