The newly appointed Executive Director of Project (EDP) of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu has officially resumed duties today, Wednesday 11th December 2024, with a promise to work and deliver on the mandate of the Commission.
Our Senior Roving Correspondent, reports that he made this pledge when he was received by the Managing Director Chief Festus Ochonoghor, Chief Favour Izuokumor Executive Director of Social Service, and other management staff of the Commission at the Commission Headquarters in Warri
Dr. Ebenezer was sworn in last week Wednesday 4th, by the Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori following the demise of the former EDP Chief Talib Tebeite, expressed his appreciation to the executive directors, management, and staff for keeping the dreams of the founding fathers alive, saying ‘’I was a commissioner when this concept of the establishment of DESOPADEC was initiated and it was signed by the then Governor, Chief Ibori and was implemented by Governor Dr. Uduaghan.
‘’Since then, this commission has been a robust interventionist agency, promoting the well-being and interest of the oil-bearing communities.
‘’I am glad to be here, I am going to learn the ropes very quickly. I am a focused person who is going to deliver on any assignment. The interest of the Governor and government of Delta State must be fully protected. The interest of the oil-producing communities and the interest of the staff will be fully protected.
Addressing the workers in a meeting, Dr Ebenezer urged workers of the commission and those who are going to work directly under him to be responsible eschew all forms of dishonesty, and be disciplined in their jobs.
‘’I am a workaholic; I am here to make history and remarkable progress I am going to start from where my predecessors stopped.
I don’t joke with workers' welfare; I don’t expect you to stagnate but every day daily we will live a life of progress. I need your full cooperation as we deliver on our given assignment.
Before settling into his office, Dr. Okorodudu went around the commission to familiarise himself with the staff
Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu an indigene from Okpara-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area, was a Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Delta State at different times during Governor James Ibori’s administration.
He was also chairman of the State’s Scholarship Board; Special Project Director, for upgrading 12 selected schools; Special Assistant to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, member of, the Management Board of Federal Medical Centre, Keffi; Zonal Organising Secretary, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State.
He was the Chief of Staff to the immediate past Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, and now Governor of the State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. Information has it that, in 2019, he joined the Department of Political Science, at Delta State University, Abraka.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC), FCAI, FCIDA, FNHR
Before he was appointed EDP DESOPADEC, he was the Chairman of, Board of Directors, Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation, DPPC, and Publicity Secretary of PDP.
