Gov. Ododo Harps On Unity, Peaceful Coexistence At Eid-el-Fitr


Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi on Sunday extended warm greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
 
Speaking to newsmen after the Eid prayer at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of love, compassion, and tolerance in fostering harmonious living in the state and Nigeria.
 
He expressed hope that the celebration would inspire citizens to embrace peace, understanding, and respect among different religious groups.
 
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Governor Ododo also highlighted the strength of Kogi State’s diversity, urging citizens to promote peaceful coexistence that transcends religious boundaries.
 
As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which emphasise kindness, charity, and respect for one another.
 
“We must continue to build bridges of understanding and friendship among our different faiths, ensuring that kogi State remains a beacon of peace and unity,” the Governor stated.
 
The Governor called on religious leaders to promote peaceful dialogue and understanding within their communities, stressing that the teachings of love and tolerance should guide citizens’ actions.
 
Accompanied by the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Hon Abdullahi Bello, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ali Bello, Commissioners and other Government functionaries, Gov. Ododo also encouraged the Muslim faithful to pray for the success of his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
 
The two-raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayer was led by Imam Dahir Hussain, at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic centre praying ground, Lokoja in line with the Islamic injunction.
 
The Federal Government declared Monday 31 March, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025 as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr observed in commemoration of the end of the Ramadan.
