We Must Join Forces to Win the Fight against Corruption – Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede on Thursday, 15 May, 2025, reiterated the need for stakeholders to take ownership of the fight against economic and financial crimes by joining forces with the Commission to win the fight.

The EFCC boss called on the private and public sectors, including youths and students to join forces with the Commission to win the fight against economic and financial crimes.

He made the call in Abuja when the National Youth Service Corps Community Development Services, NYSC- Servicom CDS Group, paid a courtesy visit to the Commission’s Headquarters.

Represented by the Head, Public Interface Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Tony Orilade, Olukoyede said collaboration with all stakeholders is essential in the battle being waged by the EFCC to save the soul of the country from corruption and economic crimes.

According to him, any well-meaning Nigerian, who wishes to see Nigeria prosper, should team up with the Commission in the fight against corruption, stating that Nigeria cannot afford to lose the war against financial crimes and corruption.

“The EFCC is open for collaboration, because it is believed that the fight against economic and financial crimes is a fight that must be won and the EFCC alone cannot achieve that task. That is why every opportunity we have as a Commission, we hold on to it and we run with it. So, partnering with the Servicom CDS Group of the NYSC is one of the ways we believe that the fight against economic and financial crimes can be achieved.

“Your visit to the Commission is not an accident, because we need you to join us, to team up with us and see how we can move the country forward. The fight against economic and financial crimes must be won because we cannot afford to lose the battle. Nigeria is so blessed with both human and natural resources and we need to harness these resources to move the country forward.

“The corruption that has eaten so deep into the system is one big issue that is confronting this country, which is why we need the support of everybody; Servicom CDS Group is key in this fight against economic and financial crimes. It is our delight that you are here today, and we are receiving you to join forces with the commission. We are very limited in terms of the number of personnel vis-à-vis the population of this country. Please join us as we continue to fight economic and financial crimes,” he said.

Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, CSE Salamatu Habu, who spoke on behalf of Servicom Unit of the EFCC, expressed satisfaction with the visit adding that the Corps members must understand the impact the EFCC and Servicom have on their careers.

“I am really impressed with what you have done as a CDS Group. We understand the impact that it has created, and we believe in efficient service delivery because where there are efficient services; there will be less corruption in the country. As you go forward in your career, you will carry those things that you have been taught at NYSC-CDS. We have received all your challenges and we will reach out to our Executive Chairman,” she said.

Speaking on cybercrime issues , Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, DSE Olalekan Philips Ogunjobi, urged the Corps Members to stay away from cybercrime and live a positive life off social media.

“Whatever you do, try to live your life off social media, it will go a long way to help you. The youths are caught up in the web of this cybercrime and a lot of factors are responsible for this, like poverty, high rate of unemployment in the country, but mostly greed and quest for quick wealth,” he said.

Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation, ACE II, Aisha Muhammed assured them of the Commission’s strong collaboration with all stakeholders in the anti-corruption fight.
