Cleric Warns: Don’t allow religious fanatics cause division in Nigeria

The Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Warri, Rev. (Dr.) Justin C. Okoroji, has warned against allowing religious fanatics to cause division in Nigeria, encouraging members of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Warri South Chapter, to model peaceful coexistence.

Fresh Angle International’s Vivian Pori, reports that the Cleric gave the warning at the First Baptist Church, Warri, Monday June 16, when he played host to the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Warri South Chapter.

Dr. Okoroji, who appreciated the Chairman of NYCN, Warri South Chapter, Comr. Destiny Tuoma Noritsegho, for the inclusion of Islamic community in the Council’s leadership, described the initiative as a powerful symbol of unity.

Whilst stating that Islam and Christianity originated from the Abrahamic lineage, the gospel minister, stressed the need for adherents of Islam and Christianity, to embrace peace and brotherhood.

The Cleric, who accepted his decoration as Patron of NYCN, Warri South Chapter, added: “We may have different destinies, but we are not meant to fight one another.”

Dr. Okoroji, shared his experiences in Jordan and Dubai, highlighting the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians as well as their united focus in building their nations’ economies and futures.

The Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Warri South Chapter, Comr. Destiny Noritsegho, thanked Dr. Okoroji, for his continued support, especially at the grassroots level and commended him for his wisdom and message of unity.

Comr. Noritsegho, formally reaffirmed Dr. Okoroji as patron of the NYCN, Warri South Chapter and assured of his readiness to add value to the life of youths in the area.

This Newspaper, understands that the engagement, which marked a significant milestone in promoting religious tolerance, youth empowerment and community collaboration, was a strong endorsement of the vision and mission of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Warri South Chapter.
