Nollywood Set to Premiere “Swept Away” as Oritsgee Media Rises in Kogi State

The Nigerian movie industry is set to add another milestone to its growing archive with the release of a new blockbuster film, *“Swept Away”*, scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2025, in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, repors that the announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of Omedia Nigeria Limited, Mr. Orits Gee, who described the film as a bold cinematic project with a powerful message on one of the country’s most pressing challenges—flooding.

According to the statement, “Swept Away” addresses the devastating impacts of floods across several Nigerian states, using emotional storytelling to spotlight the urgent need for government intervention and the resilience of affected communities.

“Mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable cinematic experience... ‘Swept Away’ is not just another entry in Nollywood; it is a wake-up call and a tribute to the human spirit in the face of environmental disasters,*” the statement read in part.

Featuring star-studded performances from the talented Queen Hassana Ozohu Salisu and veteran actor Mr. Solomon Akiyesi, the film is expected to offer audiences a moving depiction of struggle, survival, and hope.

“These actors bring authenticity and emotional depth to a story that mirrors the realities faced by many Nigerians,” the release noted.

The premiere event, which kicks off with a red carpet reception at 4:00 PM, promises glamour, star appearances, and fan interactions before the screening at 7:00 PM.

Beyond the launch of “Swept Away”, Orits gee Media is also breaking new ground in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, particularly in Kogi State. The company revealed plans to hold auditions in August for a sequel to the movie—an initiative aimed at discovering and promoting fresh talent in the region.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring actors,” said Mr. Orits “Our goal is to build a platform where the next generation of Nollywood stars can be nurtured right here in Kogi.”

In an unprecedented move, the media company also confirmed the scheduled releases of two more films—*“Step On It”* in July, and an untitled project in August—marking a record-breaking year with four major film releases from one production house in Kogi State.

Industry observers have praised Oritsgee Media’s fast-growing influence in Nigeria’s creative space. With its commitment to high-quality productions and community engagement, the company is fast becoming a cultural force, inspiring young talents and revitalizing the local film scene.

“The premiere of ‘Swept Away’is more than just a movie launch,” the statement concluded. “It is a celebration of storytelling, resilience, and the vibrant spirit of Nigerian cinema.”
