Seven years after, I am still scared of returning home – Pastor Anola, cries out

A Christian Cleric, Pastor Oluwagbemiga Anola, who fled his home at the Alagbado of Lagos State, Nigeria, after persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked his family and reportedly raped his wife, on the 4th of May 2018, says the continued threats to members of his family by the unknown attackers, scares him from returning home.

Pastor Oluwagbemiga Anola, told Fresh Angle International, Tuesday August 12 in an exclusive online interview that, he, alongside members of his family, fled Nigeria in the wake of the attack seven years ago.

As at the time Pastor Anola left the country, the National Coordinator of a human rights body, Know Your Rights, KYR, Comrade Ishaq Adio, reportedly deplored the attack on his family.

Comrade Ishaq Adio, said the attack on the cleric was a sad reminder of how two priests and six other worshippers, were murdered in cold blood during Mass in a Benue State community, as at that time, a situation that still persists as at Tuesday August 12, when this report was published by This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper.

Comrade Ishaq Adio, had declared: “The recent attack meted out to Pastor Oluwagbemiga’s family in which the entire property in his apartment was vandalised and destroyed, is condemnable.

“But of more worry is the fact that the attackers raped his wife and promised to come back and that anywhere he is, they will get at him,” Adio averred.

He added, “In the last attack, they molested his wife and the poor woman was beaten to stupor, but the husband was not around at the time of the invasion.

“You will wonder why things have got to such a sorry pass, that citizens are constantly being attacked with little or no intervention from the appropriate authorities,” Adio lamented.
