Two drivers of Delta City Bus, otherwise known asUduaghan motors were on Saturday August 27 beaten to near stupor by touts (Agberos)under the guise of Agaga Community Environmental Task Force Committee atEnerhen junction, Effurun, Delta State, Fresh Angle can exclusively report.
Eyewitnesses say the incident started when one of thedrivers with plate number DT48B29, innocently parked in front of formerSavannah Bank now being occupied by Morning Star Christian Assembly against astanding order that no one should park in that area during sanitation periods. The driver’s action immediately provokedthe touts who were apparently angry as a result of the identity of the vehiclehe was driving, they pounced on him and tore his shirt to shreds.
Fresh Angle reliably gathered that the driver’scolleague plying the Okumagba estate route with plate number DT12B28, whonoticed the ordeal the driver was facing from the touts, defiled all odds andparked at the same spot, demanding to know what prompted the assault.
Eyewitnesses told Fresh Angle that the touts ignoredthe driver’s inquiry and the driver immediately made several calls to themanagement of Delta City bus to help salvage the situation after efforts todraw the attention of other drivers plying the route failed. The action of thedriver aggravated the already tensed situation and the touts equally gave himthe beating of his life.
As at the time Our Senior Correspondent left thescene of the incident, officials of Delta City bus were yet to arrive, even asthe touts threaten to deal with anyone called to the drivers’ rescue.
