Impeccable community sourceshinted Fresh Angle that the incumbent community Trust Chairmain, Mr.Thomas Ereyitomi whose three year tenure ought to have expired by now appearsset to continue in caretaker capacity against the interest of some powerfulpersons in the community. Fresh Angle gathered from a very reliable source thatsome indigenes of the community are pushing for the candidacy of a prominentbusinessman and Itsekiri activist (name withheld) to vie for the TrustChairmanship which has become even more lucrative since the commencement ofChevron’s EGTL project.
Indications of a possiblebreakdown of law and order in the community emerged recently when some youthsacting on the directive of one of the interested parties allegedly ransacked the Warri home of the communityhead (Olare– Aja). The youths could however not find the community head whoescaped on a tip off.
There are palpable fearsamongst key actors in the community that if urgent steps are not taken, theemerging scenerio may snowball into a serious crisis.
