Articulated Itsekiri women group, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, has written President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, explaining reasons why an Itsekiri indigene should be appointed as next Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP.

The organization, in the letter made available to Fresh Angle International, Friday February 6, told the President that appointing an Itsekiri son or daughter as the next Administrator of PAP, would be a powerful demonstration of justice, balance, and national unity.

According to Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, an Itsekiri indigene becoming the next PAP Boss, would restore trust, promote reconciliation, and affirm the Federal Government’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness in the Niger Delta.

President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Mene, in a correspondence addressed to President Tinubu, stated that over the years, the leadership and benefits of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, have largely favoured one ethnic nationality.

The letter, reads:

“I write with deep respect to your office and a strong sense of civic responsibility to humbly appeal for fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in the forthcoming appointment of the next Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

“Over the years, the leadership and benefits of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme have largely favoured one ethnic nationality. Several beneficiaries from this group have been trained and empowered as pilots, nurses, doctors, and professionals across various sectors.

“Unfortunately, the Itsekiri people—despite being integral stakeholders in the Niger Delta—have received little to no meaningful benefit from the Programme.

“To date, there is no significant or visible empowerment to show for the Itsekiri people. Instead of genuine capacity-building and professional development, many of our youths are left with certificates, without value or relevance, often after years of waiting and uncertainty. This does not reflect the true objective of the Amnesty Programme.

“Your Excellency, this situation is particularly painful, because many Itsekiri communities were among the worst affected during the crisis often referred to as the “Niger Delta struggle.” Our villages were burnt, families displaced, and many villagers rendered homeless. Yet, there has been no adequate compensation, rehabilitation, or sustained government attention to address these losses. Ironically, the real victims of the crisis are now the most neglected.

“We sincerely hope that whoever is appointed as the next Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, will recognise this long-standing injustice and ensure that the Programme delivers genuine, fair, and transparent empowerment to the Itsekiri people—not superficial interventions, but opportunities that truly transform lives and secure the future of our children.

“Appointing an Itsekiri son or daughter as the next Administrator would be a powerful demonstration of justice, balance, and national unity. More importantly, it would restore trust, promote reconciliation, and affirm the Federal Government’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness in the Niger Delta.

“We respectfully urge your esteemed office to give this appeal serious consideration in the interest of peace, equity, and sustainable development.

“Thank you for your time, leadership, and dedication to a united and just Nigeria.”
