Odin-Etuwewe: Delta Speaker’s claim that Ijaws have six LGAs, misrepresentation of facts

Former Leader of Warri South-West Legislative Arm and contender for the Warri South-West Legislative Seat in Delta State House of Assembly, ahead of the 2027 polls, Rt. Hon. Emiko Odin-Etuwewe, says the claim by Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, that Ijaws have six local government areas in Delta State, is gross misrepresentation of facts.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, had on Wednesday April 15 in Bomadi, declared that Ijaws of Delta State, have six local government areas.

Rt. Hon. Guwor, boldly made the statement when the Ijaw National Congress, INC, organized an elaborate reception in honour of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori.

Miffed by the Delta State Speaker’s remarks, Hon. Odin-Etuwewe, in an electronic statement made available to this Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper, Thursday April 16, asserted: “I state categorically that the Speaker is very wrong. His statement does not reflect the true constitutional and political status of the LGAs he mentioned.

“He should have been properly guided. By grouping them as six local governments in that context, he wrongly implies that the three Warri LGAs (Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North) belong exclusively to one ethnic nationality, which is false, divisive, and historically inaccurate.

“Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North, are multi-ethnic LGAs with Itsekiris, Ijaws, Ilajes and Urhobo populations. Where Itsekiri is majority.

“We urge public officials to speak with facts and avoid narratives that distort our shared heritage and peaceful coexistence.”
