Leaders of Itsekiri Communities of Ebrohimi, Obaghoro, Tebu, Gbokoda, Aja - Amita, Udo and Jakpa, making up the Indigenous Communities of Olero Oil Field in Warri North Local Government Area, have called on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to investigate violation of the peace accord reportedly signed by Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo leaders, during a meeting held June 8 in the presence of Governor Oborevwori.

They urged the governor to facilitate the swift evacuation of the "illegal occupiers from the Olero Flow Station" saying the facility remains a critical national asset and its occupation by external parties, must not be tolerated.

Leaders of the seven Chevron Nigeria Limited host communities, who made the demand in Warri, Delta State, Wednesday June 10, during a media briefing, called on the federal government and security agencies, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the INEC delineation exercise, in relation to the Supreme Court judgement on Warri Federal Constituency.

Secretary of Olero Oil Field Communities, Hon. Samson Ogboduwa, who addressed newsmen on behalf of the leaders, tasked Chevron Nigeria Limited, to remain resolute and "refuse to recognize, negotiate with, or yield to pressure from external actors, who are not recognized host communities."

According to them, the occupation of Olero Oil Flowstation by persons, claiming to represent the Ijaw communities of Egbema and Gbaramatu, is a violation of the peace accord.

The leaders, stressed that the seven Chevron Nigeria Limited Itsekiri host communities "do not share boundaries with" Egbema and Gbaramatu.

"It is on record that the Ijaw aggressors were transported in Tantita speedboats. The same Tantita, which was awarded contracts to secure the Federal Government's pipeline infrastructure, is equally alleged to be sponsoring and mobilising the protest that is impacting national revenue generation.

Some Olero Oil Field Communities’ stakeholders, during the media parley

"We believe that Tompolo's actions, are aimed at forcing people out of their God - given lands and arm - twisting the government into renewing Tantita 's contract," the Itsekiri leaders, posited.

Whilst emphasizing the need for the federal government and security agencies to also investigate any officials found to have provided misleading advice or information in the delineation process, the community leaders, noted that INEC should be made to comply fully with the Supreme Court judgement and relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES OF THE OLERO OIL FIELD, WARRI NORTH LGA, DELTA STATE.

SUBJECT: ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF OLERO FLOWSTATION AND THE FRAUDULENT INEC WARD DELINEATION PROPOSAL

"IS GOVERNMENT IN-ACTION PROMOTING CRISIS IN THE AREA?"

DATE: 10 June 2026

VENUE: No. 10 Ukpara Ajagbawa Street, Egbokodo, Itsekiri

We, the leaders and representatives of the indigenous communities of the Olero Oil Field in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, hereby state as follows:

Gentlemen of the Press, stakeholders, and members of the general public, we address you today with a heavy heart but with a resolute spirit.

We are here to expose what we consider a serious misrepresentation of historical and geographical facts, a threat to public peace, and an attempt to undermine the rights of the indigenous host communities.

Ebrohimi

For the avoidance of doubt, the Olero Oil Flowstation, operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited, is legally hosted by seven (7) major indigenous communities:

Obaghoro

Tebu

Gbokoda

Aja-Amita

Udo

Jakpa

These seven communities are the legitimate owners, landlords, and rightful hosts of this critical national asset.

THE ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF OLERO FLOWSTATION

It has come to our attention, with great dismay, that individuals from the Ijaw ethnic nationality of the Gbaramatu and Egbema Kingdoms have occupied the Olero Oil Flowstation while laying claim to our ancestral lands and host-community rights.

We consider this action a serious provocation and a direct challenge to the peace and stability that have long existed in the area.

The occupation of the Olero Oil Flowstation by persons claiming to represent the Ijaw communities of Egbema and Gbaramatu is, in our view, a violation of the peace accord signed during a meeting held on 8 June 2026 in the presence of the Executive Governor of Delta State. This development raises serious concerns regarding their commitment to the spirit and letter of that agreement.

Let the records show, and let the world know, that these claimants have no established stake in the Olero Flowstation. Geographically, our seven communities do not share boundaries with them or with any Ijaw community within the immediate vicinity of the Olero Flowstation.

It is on record that the Ijaw aggressors were transported in Tantita speedboats. The same Tantita, which was awarded contracts to secure the Federal Government's pipeline infrastructure, is equally alleged to be sponsoring and mobilizing the protest that is impacting national revenue generation. We believe that Tompolo's actions are aimed at forcing people out of their God-given lands and arm-twisting the Government into renewing Tantita's contract.

These developments raise serious concerns regarding the protection of lives and property, critical national assets, and the preservation of peace and stability within the area.

THE FRAUDULENT INEC WARD DELINEATION PROPOSAL

This illegal occupation did not occur in isolation. It is directly connected to a deeply controversial proposal concerning the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ward delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency.

-This delineation exercise is viewed as a politically motivated attempt to gerrymander boundaries, create a false demographic narrative, and disenfranchise the indigenous host communities of Warri North. Furthermore, the current proposal by INEC is alleged to extend beyond its legitimate duties by intervening

in polling unit, ward, and constituency delineation matters in ways that affect existing political and geographical arrangements.

We completely reject any proposed delineation that seeks to reward aggression and illegal occupation or alter the established political and geographical realities of the Warri Federal Constituency.

OUR DEMANDS

We hereby call on the following authorities and institutions to take immediate action:

The Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori

- Intervene immediately to protect the rights of the indigenous host communities and ensure the maintenance of law and order.

Cause an investigation into the reported violation of the peace accord and those responsible for it.

Facilitate the swift evacuation of the illegal occupiers from the Olero Flowstation.

This facility remains a critical national asset, and its occupation by external parties must not be tolerated.

The Federal Government of Nigeria and Security Agencies

Investigate the circumstances surrounding the INEC delineation exercise in relation to the Supreme Court judgment on the Warri Federal Constituency.

Investigate any officials found to have provided misleading advice or information in the delineation process.

Ensure that INEC complies fully with the Supreme Court judgment and the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Chevron Nigeria Limited

- Remain resolute and refuse to recognize, negotiate with, or yield to pressure from external actors who are not recognized host communities.

The Chairman and Leadership of INEC

- Thoroughly investigate and dismiss any ward delineation proposals found to be inconsistent with established geographical, political, and legal realities within Warri North Local Government Area.

CONCLUSION

-We are peaceful and law-abiding citizens who have coexisted peacefully and hosted critical national infrastructure for decades.

We remain committed to peace, justice, and the rule of law. However, we will continue to resist any attempt to distort the geographical landscape, undermine our rights, or dispossess our communities of what rightfully belongs to them.

We therefore call on all relevant authorities to act swiftly and decisively in the interest of justice, peace, and stability in the Warri Federal Constituency. No individual or group should assume that it has a monopoly on the use of force or intimidation.

We thank you.

Signed

For and on behalf of the Indigenous Communities of the Olero Oil Field
