Wife of one of the 3 persons that died at the front of Cavegina Primary School in Warri on Friday October 19, Mrs. Maria Maritan says her late hubby, William Maritan lost his life in a desperate bid to save his younger brother, Freeborn Maritan who was dying from electrocution.
A visibly pained Mrs. Maria Maritan who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle in tears the following day after her hubby passed on, explained that she was cooking at their house opposite the school when she suddenly heard the voice of her husband yelling in pains.
According to her, before she came out her husband was already dead and sympathizers who
thronged the venue of the electrocution prevented her from seeing the life less body of her late husband, William Maritan.
Mrs. Maritan(neeEjegi) who is a fried fish and cassava chips trader further told Fresh Angle that her late husband came home with raw pieces of meat he bought for the home 30 minutes before he met his sudden death.
Trouble started when an electric cable in front of Cavegina Primary School along Warri Sapele road fell and electrocuted one Freeborn Maritan, younger brother to William and a certain Wisdom Udoh, both of whom were directly under the high tension line.
It was reliably gathered that late William Maritan who was apparently ignorant of the fact that the power that electrocuted his younger brother was still running in his body, attempted carrying his brother, but it was in the process of holding his dying younger brother that current passed through his body and he died on the spot.
It was not immediately clear if the unfortunate incident caused the relocation of flood victims who were at the Cavegina Primary School in Warri to Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West local government, but Our Senior Correspondent reports that the only person affected by the electrocution in the Cavegina Primary School resettlement camp is a 27-year old Joseph Officer who was offering voluntary security service at the camp. He was immediately given first aid treatment at the camp by health officials from Warri South local government council before he was taken to the Central Hospital, Warri.
Fresh Angle gathered that the remains of the 3 persons who died have since been deposited at the morgue in Central Hospital, Warri.
